Iowa Legislators Receive Thank-You Letters from The Satanic Temple Iowa
Tamara Scott, National Committeewoman of the Iowa Republican Party, is asking for your prayers.
In response, I’ve written a Satanic invocation that you are welcome to perform.
On April 9th, “Concerned Women for America”, a group who is on the advisor board for Project 2025 and whose stated mission is to “protect and promote Biblical values,” and seeks to “bring Biblical principles into all levels of public policy,” published an article by Republican Committeewoman Scott encouraging Iowans to join in prayer after several legislators in the Iowa House received thank-you letters from The Satanic Temple Iowa.

Ask the Lord to protect our state legislators as they are at home, traveling, and in the capitol.
Pray for those who are believers, that if there is any discouragement, it will be erased, and their hearts will be encouraged as they finish the last weeks of the session strong in their faith and trusting in God’s plans.
Pray for those refusing God’s plan for their lives, that they may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Pray for your representative by name.
Humbly petition our Lord to silence those inside and outside of the capitol working against Him.
The prayer request doesn’t say why TST Iowa sent thank-you notes, what these thank-you notes said, nor does it clarify why receiving thank-you letters would be so damaging or offensive to members of the Iowa House that they would “critically need” your prayers in response.
What does the article say?
Iowa legislators received personal, hand-written “thank you” letters this week from the Satanic Temple of Iowa (ST). ST had a daily presence in the capitol this session, participating in sub-committee meetings and testifying for or against proposed legislation.
Why did Republican Party Committeewoman Tamara Scott feel the need to respond to our thank-you notes with a public prayer request while she is speaking for a Christian Nationalist group (that she is a registered lobbyist for)?
Why would The Satanic Temple Iowa send thank you notes to members of the Iowa House in the first place?
If passed, Iowa bill HF884 will allow religious leaders to proselytize to your children in public schools during school hours. An amendment was proposed in the Senate Education Committee that would have prevented proselytization, but this amendment was rejected.
Since my initial public comment on a similar school chaplaincy bill at the Iowa Senate in January of 2024, The Satanic Temple, a federally and internationally recognized religious group, has been on the front-line in opposing school chaplaincy legislation in Iowa and across the country, while maintaining that TST’s Ministers of Satan will accept the invitation to serve as chaplains if this legislation passes.
A truly surprising number of families and school faculty have approached me in Iowa expressing a desire for TST’s presence in Iowa’s public schools, with many specifically mentioning The Satanic Temple’s commitment to not proselytize, focus on scientific endeavors, literature, and critical thinking, and their commitment to protecting children from harm–TST’s Protect Children Project has safeguarded children in public schools that would have otherwise been physically beaten or psychologically abused by school faculty.
Although I do not wish to have chaplains in public schools, members of the Iowa House who recently voted in favor of this bill were made well aware that Satanic Temple Ministers of Satan plan to participate should it pass. Because of this, I wrote thank-you letters to all 57 members of the Iowa House who voted in support, thanking them for welcoming us into Iowa’s public schools to provide support, services, and programs to schoolchildren.

Because Tamara Scott has asked for your prayers, I’ve written a Satanic Ritual.
Below is a simple Satanic Invocation I have written in case you would like to follow her request for prayers. This invocation may be paired with the lighting of candles and quiet meditative thought at your altar on the future of religious freedom in our great state.
Tamara Scott has specifically requested that your rituals use the name of your local representatives.

Leaders need insight while ignorance reigns.
The Dark Lord petitioned—let emerge speakers,
Retaining our rights require’s hatred wanes.
Courage is needed as our times grow bleaker,
To salvage freedom, at least what remains.
